For the last instalment in the Dubai Files, Felix sits down with Manuel Emch, the creative mind behind the resurgence of Louis Erard, which has evolved over the last few years from a middle-of-the-road value proposition into a powerhouse of collaboration. Enlisting help from people like Alain Silberstein and Konstantin Chaykin has seen Louis Erard become one of the most interesting names in watchmaking at the moment.

This week we’ve got Felix’s chat with Ming Thein, the self-described Supreme Overlord of Horologer Ming, one of the most exciting and prolific young watch brands, who have racked up 62 references in only six years. Felix and Ming spend a lot of time chatting about the incredible new Ming LW.01, which Ming believes is the lightest mechanical watch ever made, coming in at 8.8 grams for the manual and 10.8 grams for the automatic.

LVMH Watch Week, which was recently held in Miami, marks the start fo the flood of new releases for the year, and for our first news episode, we fly through some of the highlights from TAG Heuer, Hublot, Bulgari and Zenith. We also chat about the new Piaget Polo 79 and Taylor Swift’s watch choker.

This week Andy flies solo, chatting to Verne Ho, the man behind Watch Studies, which bills itself as the only dedicated tool and resource for watch photography, helping watch lovers to tell better stories about the watches they love. Verne is an experienced photographer and creative director, and we find out how he’s gone from watch-adjacent to full-blown nerd.

As Andy and Felix enjoy their summer down under, the Dubai Files continues to deliver. This week Felix chats to Oris Co-CEO Rolf Studer, and it's not your average watch exec interview. Typically, it's a challenge to get a CEO to talk about anything but the watches, but in our chat with Studer, we ended up talking far more about the Enlightenment and philosophy (and how it relates to the business of watches) than is usual.

Now he’s back with a brand new novel: Sweetwater. Sweetwater sees the return of Tusker, the marine archaeologist, but now the action is a bit closer to home: the icy waters of Lake Superior.

Jean-Claude Biver is one of the most important individuals in modern watchmaking, a man with a legendary CV and a long legacy. These days, though, it’s his own name on the dial, and when Felix had a surprise interview at Dubai Watch Week, it was finding out how Biver senior has transitioned from running mega watch groups to working with a small family business.

Alan Bloore — better known as Hammer — is a legend in the world of collecting, particularly when it comes to Panerai. He’s been collecting watches since the 1980s, and, in a few days, Hammer’s watch collection is going under the hammer at Sotheby’s New York. Hammer is selling because, in his own words, “it’s time to get my affairs in order.”

Felix is back from sunny Dubai, and he’s got plenty of tales to tell. Andy and Felix debrief about the latest edition of this regional watch show with an ever-increasing international reach. From some absolutely wild wrist-spotting to even wilder weather, there’s a lot going on at DWW, and that’s before we get to the formal programming and watch releases.

There’s happenings and drama a-plenty at the moment. Patek Philippe released a watch with a face on it, Andy almost bought a Greubel Forsey, and we have some thoughts about the GPHG winners. Finally, the Timepiece Gentleman is facing jail time, as the FBI has arrested Anthony Farrer, charging him with wire fraud.
