Secondly, Felix speaks to a man who directly contradicts this claim — CEO and Creative Director of Van Cleef & Arpels, Mr Nicolas Bos. Van Cleef & Arpel’s watchmaking is less concerned with the passing of minutes and seconds and more about creating emotion. This is why, in the world of VC&A’s poetic storytelling, you’re likely to find the time being told with a flower or the wing of a fairy. We chat to Mr Bos about the importance of this approach, as well as the brand’s Extraordinary Objects, one-off creations that combine high jewellery skills, timekeeping and automata that definitely live up to the name.
